What drew me to Internal Medicine: I have seen Internal Medicine as a branch that provides a perfect amalgamation of both the clinical and humanitarian aspects of care. What do I like to do in my free time: In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. ![]() Connecting the dots, making obvious and subtle connections, and the necessity for attention to detail are some of the reasons that continue to sustain my passion for Internal Medicine. The subtle variations in causation and management always made me think about the patients current and prior medical history that influenced their current presentation. What drew me to Internal Medicine: The variable signs and symptoms with which each disease can present brought on my interest in Internal Medicine during medical school. Medical School: Allama Iqbal Medical School I equally enjoy staying indoors playing board games, watching TV shows, and doing online shopping. What do I like to do in my free time: Hanging out with friends, exploring new places, and dining out. The diversity of this field provides an opportunity for life-long learning. The broad sub-specialty exposure and critical thinking involved, coupled with an opportunity to develop long-term physician-patient relationships, is what I like about Internal Medicine. What drew me to Internal Medicine: Internal Medicine is a blend of various disciplines under one umbrella. Classical fiction is my favorite genre of literature, although I read almost all kinds of books. What do I like to do in my free time: Reading, hanging out with friends, LEGO, biking, and CrossFit. These findings are an initial indication that normative interventions may be applicable with this population. Finally, the degree of inaccuracy was associated with reporting bullying behavior. ![]() Overall, resident physicians held inaccurate beliefs, and thought other residents reported bullying more often than they did. Self-report surveys were administered to family medicine, internal medicine, surgical, and emergency medicine residents (N=61).įemale residents reported experiencing significantly more bullying than males. The aims of this study were to examine (a) gender differences in experiences of bullying and/or negative acts while working as a medical resident, (b) residents' perceptions of injunctive (ie, approval of) and descriptive (ie, behavior) norms related to reporting bullying behaviors, and (c) whether greater self-other differences predict greater engagement in reporting bullying behavior by others in the workplace. Negative acts adversely impact junior physicians. Bullying behavior in residency is common, with prevalence rates ranging from 10% to 48%.
